The Research Suite connector brings Stretto's bankruptcy research platform into leading AI assistants and legal AI platforms through the Model Context Protocol. Identify precedential cases, work through dockets, and pull the underlying court filings without leaving the conversation where you are already drafting and analyzing.
The connector is built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard for connecting AI applications to external tools and data. That means one connector, available across the platforms restructuring professionals actually use:
Any client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP with OAuth authentication can connect. As new platforms adopt the standard, they work with Research Suite the day they ship.
The high-value, day-to-day work of restructuring lives in motions, responses, orders, and stipulations that never make it into a reported decision. When you need to know how an issue played out across comparable cases, the answer is on the dockets. But there are a few hundred consequential Chapter 11 filings by large companies every year, those cases carry tens of thousands of combined docket entries, and the 20 or 50 entries relevant to your question are buried among them.
Research Suite exists to separate that signal from the noise. Every case in the corpus carries structured attributes: industry, assets and revenues at filing, presiding judge, debtor and committee counsel, prepackaged or prenegotiated status, and forum choice. Every tracked docket entry is classified by document type and topic against a controlled taxonomy maintained by Stretto's research team. Connected to your AI platform, that structure becomes something you can query in plain language, and the documents it surfaces become source material the AI can read, compare, and draft from in the same session.
Coverage is comprehensive for Chapter 11 cases filed by companies with $100 million or more in assets at the time of filing. Below that threshold, Stretto's research team curates the most important and precedential cases, so the corpus captures the filings that shape practice regardless of size. Together, that means more than 4,000 large Chapter 11 cases and over 5.5 million docket entries, drawn from every bankruptcy court jurisdiction in the country.
Once the connector is enabled, your AI assistant can call Research Suite whenever your request touches bankruptcy case research. A few examples of prompts the connector handles well:
Resolve a debtor name or case number to the right case, or search the full corpus by chapter, court, circuit, industry, filing date, financial size, judge, counsel, and case characteristics like prepackaged status and forum choice.
Retrieve a structured case profile with filing metadata, financials at filing, and the composition of the docket, plus a milestone timeline covering events from petition through confirmation and effective date where present in the record.
Search a case's docket by document type, curated topic, filing date, and free text. Topic classifications cover the substance practitioners actually research: DIP financing, asset sales, assumption and rejection, plan and disclosure statement matters, claims issues, and more.
Retrieve the underlying court documents so your AI assistant can read them directly. Filings not yet in the cache are acquired from the court record automatically and available moments later.
The details vary slightly by platform, but the pattern is the same everywhere:
In Claude, go to Settings, then Connectors, and add Research Suite. In ChatGPT, add it under Settings and Connectors. On enterprise legal AI platforms, your workspace administrator typically enables the connector before users in the organization can access it. Platforms that accept a server URL directly connect to:
The first time you use the connector, your platform walks you through a secure OAuth sign-in with your Research Suite credentials. Each user connects with their own account; there are no shared logins.
Research Suite is now available to your AI assistant as a research source. Ask about cases, dockets, and filings in plain language, and the assistant will call the connector when it helps answer your question.
Every tool in the connector reads from the Research Suite corpus. There are no write, update, or delete capabilities, and no tool accepts your documents or client files as input.
The connector receives only your search terms and record identifiers. It never receives, stores, or processes documents from your AI platform or workspace.
Content returned by the connector comes from public filings on United States Bankruptcy Court dockets, together with Stretto's classification metadata describing those filings.
Access uses OAuth with your individual Research Suite subscription. Revoking a user's Research Suite access immediately disables the connector for that user, on every platform.
Yes. The connector authenticates each user with their own Research Suite account, so an active subscription is required. If your organization does not yet have Research Suite access, contact us using the link below.
Any MCP client that supports remote servers over Streamable HTTP with OAuth authentication. That includes Claude, ChatGPT, and a growing set of legal AI platforms, developer tools, and custom agent frameworks. If your platform supports adding a remote MCP server by URL, it can connect to Research Suite.
Research Suite provides comprehensive coverage of Chapter 11 cases filed by companies with $100 million or more in assets at the time of filing, plus curated coverage of the most important and precedential cases below that threshold. The corpus spans more than 4,000 large Chapter 11 cases and over 5.5 million docket entries, including cases from every bankruptcy court jurisdiction. Coverage includes case-level attributes, classified docket entries, and the underlying court documents.
Yes. The connector is a different way into the same corpus and classification layer that powers researchsuite.stretto.com. Work started in your AI platform can be continued on the web platform and vice versa.
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI applications connect to external tools and data sources through a consistent interface. Your AI platform acts as the client, Research Suite operates the server, and you (or your administrator, on enterprise platforms) control what is enabled.
